Description
WILL CONSIDER ALL RESONABLE OFFERS.MUST SELL DUE TO FAMILY MEDICAL EMERGENCY SITUATION REQUIRING ADDITIONAL FINANCES.OTHERWISE WOULD KEEP THESE IN MY FAMILY AS THEY ARE INCREDIBLY VISUALLY STUNNING AND HAVE BEEN IN MY FAMILY FOR 38 YEARS NOW Unique Offering of Hollywood Memorabilia from the1970 MGM Studio Auction Believed to be used on the set of the Elizabeth Taylor  film "CLEOPATRA"   Purchased by my grandparents at the 1970 MGM Studio Auction   this site has some details on the MGM Auction from which they were purchased:  http://www.debbiereynoldsonline.com/museum.htm You are looking at a set of two (2) Egyptian style statues that were purchased in Burbank, CA at a studio auction in 1970.  Apparently the movie cost so much (most expensive movie to date) that they decided to sell off the props used in various films (including such items at Dorthy's ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz) They have a very commanding demeanor in their stance and facial expressions and incredible musculature.   They have been in my family ever since my Grandparents acquired them at the infamous 1970 MGM auction.  I do not have a receipt or papers on them.  These were my inheritance and I was not planning on parting with them, but I believe there is likely a Hollywood Memorabilia fan out there than would treasure them more than I ever could, especially a Liz Taylor fan or perhaps someone who loves statues like these.  I realize this is a major acquisition so if you have any questions do not hesitate to email and we can arrange to speak directly. They are extremely heavy and intricately detailed musculature and facial features.  They are approximately 3 FEET TALL, hence the shipping & handling costs. Small chips to the original paint.   I don't have any documentation.   This will likely run a couple hundred dollars but anyone bidding should expect to pay shipping costs in addition to winning bid price. As I understand it, they were used as set props in the FOX production of "CLEOPATRA" starring Elizabeth Taylor.  Incredible detail.  If you are in Los Angeles, we can arrange pickup.  Such method would actually be preferred.  Also if you are in Los Angeles and are interested in previewing them prior to bidding, please email me through here. Payment due in full within 5 days and pickup within 7 days of end of Auction.  If they need to be shipped I will take them to be professionally packaged and shipped fully insured.Shipping internationally as well is going to be significant due to their size, fragility and weight.   If you are local in Los Angeles to pick them up, that would be ideal.   For serious prospective buyers who are local, I can arrange a private viewing to inspect their condition, prior to bidding. Trying to see if I can find a buy for these without having to submit them to  Bonhams Entertainment auction and having to incur additional buyers & sellers fees to us both. Thank you for your Consideration. I inherited them from my grandparents who I am told purchased them at the 1970 MGM Auction where many movie props were sold, including from Cleopatra, Wizard of Oz, etc.   Sold "As Is."Please email with any serious questions.A fantastic buy for a collector of Hollywood Memorabilia, Elizabeth Taylor / Cleopatra Fan, or an art collector or even an animal lover !BUYER MUST PAY ACTUAL SHIPPING AND HANDLING CHARGES INCLUDING PROFESSIONAL PACKAGING AND INSURANCE.
