Description
This is the original painting of "Soap Box Volunteers" by artist George Kovach. The painting is in perfect condition, with no cracks, seams, smudges, wrinkles, or fainting. The painting is just absolutely beautiful. The painting was originally painted to raise funds for a firehouse in Wisconsin, and the original was auctioned off. The painting has been in two different frames in its lifetime, the original was replaced two years ago due to it being poorly made and falling apart. The current frame is of an antique gold finish, and measures 29 1/2 inches tall, by 41 1/2 inches wide. When the painting rest in the frame, the total depth of the two is 2 1/2 inches. The painting itself measures 24 inches by 36 inches. The painting is signed in the lower right corner (please see photos). The frame in the lower right corner is cracked due to unknown reasons (please see photos) though the rest of the frame is in superb condition. George Kovach has this to say about his painting titled "Soap Box Volunteers." "When my son was a little guy he used to say "When I grow up I want to be a fireman and drive a big red truck." More than a few children have shared this dream and many go on to live it. It is these courageous heroes who spark the imaginations of the next generation. Back yard "replicas" of the mighty fire truck such as this ingenious design have been born of these childhood imaginations. The dalmation friend is the icing on the dream, especially for these "Soapbox Volunteers"." About George Kovach: "George Kovach was born of Hungarian descent in Cleveland, Ohio. It was during his childhood on Ohio farm that art became the focus of George's life. He attended and graduated from the Art Institute of Miami and became a full-time artist in 1972. George is busy painting at either his home in Texas or his summer studio in Mexico. George has been commissioned to do paintings for numerous prestigeous customers, both celebraties and corporate. His most recent commission was for three 5'x 6' paintings of Texas landscapes for USA Bank Corporate Headquarters in Austin, Texas. His artwork has been licensed for items such as: Calendars, notecards, christmas Cards, Afgan throws, Collector Plates, Ornaments, Figurines, Stein Mugs, Puzzles, etc. A founding member of the Texas Cowboy Artist Association, George was awarded a gold medallion three concecutive years for "Best of Show". Since joining his publisher, Northwoods Craftsman, in 1992, George has become "One of America's Most Versatile Artists". He loves the challenge of painting a wide variety of subjects and having his artwork appeal to almost everyone. If you look closely at a Kovach painting, you begin to understand who George is and what he stands for. You will often find churches and family in many of his pieces, as these values are extremely important to him. As one stands before a Kovach painting, nostalgia is brought into vivid focus as he so masterfully takes the viewer on a personal journey through time where romance of the past is brought back to life."
