Description
Click to Enlarge   "Woman with Eggs and Bones"by Virginia Ann Zuelsdorf This painting is an original created in my studio in Orlando. It measures 35 inches wide by 84 inches high and was completed in 2003. The medium is acrylic on canvas. It is stunning when hung; it can be a focal point for a room. The medium is acrylic paint on canvas. This piece is a one of a kind original, created by me. You will not find another like this on ebay! In these details you can see the layers and textures of the painting. As you can see in these details, there is a lot of texture in the canvas. The canvas was taped to a flat surface to be painted and the washes of thin paint cause some crinkling and wrinkling of the canvas. This was deliberate. I allowed the canvas to dry thoroughly and then scumbled paint over the raised areas. It is painted on unstretched canvas.  Stretcher bars will not be included.   This piece has been finishedwith a durable varnish which helps to protect it from UV rays.   This painting is not framed.  SHIPPING: This painting will be shipped rolled. CertifiedMember of EBSQSelf-RepresentingArtists About theArtistI am a professional artist, working full-time on my art.My internationally collected art has been viewed in juried exhibitions, galleries, local art shows, and several one-woman shows. I haveperformed at numerous live painting events, in which a work of art is createdbefore a live audience and have been featured in a documentary filmcalled The Art of the Illuminati. From 1998 until 2004 I was a scenicartist doing projects at theme parks including Disney and Universal Studiosin Orlando (the best job I ever had!). After a work accident dictated achange in jobs, I decided to concentrate on smaller works of artpainted in my studio in Orlando, Florida. A photography background isevident in my paintings, which are often based upon my own photographicimages. My palette is influenced by the Impressionists and the GermanExpressionists, particularly the Fauves, or Wild Beasts. I use color to create a mood or evoke a particular feeling. Landscape images are composed to draw the viewer into and throughout the painting. Figure, portrait and landscape images are idealized and exaggerated both in theway they are drawn and the colors used, to create a unique beauty. I believe that our society is deprived of the visual stimulation andexcitement created by the vibrant hues we loved as children. I have beentold by my patrons that being surrounded by my art enhances both theirsenses and their lives. Artist BiographyVirginia Zuelsdorf was raised in rural Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, near thebirthplace of Georgia OKeefe, an early influence and role model. PLEASE SEE MY ME PAGE FORMORE ART AND MORE INFORMATION ON THE ARTIST HERES WHAT FORMER GALLERY OWNER AND ART COLLECTOR Gerard Bencen HAS TO SAYABOUT THE ART OF VIRGINIA ZUELSDORF:I first encountered the work of Virginia Zuelsdorf when I passed afence surrounding a construction site in Downtown Orlando in 1998 onwhich the usual and sundry graffiti and dawdlings had been tagged. Then,to my amazement, there was this wonderful, evocative image of a womanrendered in a palette of wild color that all somehow came together. Ona fence!! By some strange circumstance, almost a year later, a friend introducedme to a woman who unassumingly showed me a portfolio of paintings shehad done over a period of almost a decade. While the work was sodiverse in content and style that it could have been crafted by the hand offive different accomplished artists, before long, I took in the commongenius, the penny dropped, and I asked: You did that woman on the fencearound the construction site, didnt you? Almost shyly, Virginiaconfirmed. That night, I bought my first painting by Virginia Zuelsdorf (nowVirginia Zuelsdorf Beard). The painting is called The King and theQueen. These are alien beings looking from another world from the canvasinto my world. Every day that I see them, I greet the Kind and theQueen with respect and feel honored to know them, yet they remainmysterious to me. And so began a love of an artists work which has led meto, from time to time, find one piece after another irresistible.Playtime is a young woman dancing, Mardi-Gras fashion, with a youngboy. There is such joy and movement and life in the painting! I hungthe painting in the entry-way of my law practice in Orlando, tocontradict the typically stuffy atmosphere of most law practices. The paintinginfused the workspace with a sense of joy and light. From the hyper-real to the surreal, Virginias work speaks to me in alanguage that is completely accessible ... and at the same time absurd.I have seen others who respond similarly (a prominent Orlando graphicdesigner, on seeing The King and the Queen said nothing more nor lessthan It is strong!), but rarely, if ever, have I seen anyone look at aZuelsdorf and have no emotional response at all. I am convinced, bothas an art collector and one-time art dealer, that in time, Virginiaswork should, and I sincerely hope will, be recognized broadly for thesignificant, multi-faceted, artistic talent that it embodies.Gerard H.
