This 6' x 10' mural "Tribute to Fragonard:  The Fountain" was an exceptional challenge.  Sandefur admired Fragonard, a 17th century romantic painter, famous for his Rococo style.  His languid scenes and abundant landscapes perfectly evoke the sensual pleasure of pre-Revolutionary France. Sandefur's painting seems to magically transport the viewer into a lush panorama reminiscent of that time period, with delightful cherubs orchestrating the onset of summer.  To achieve the effect of an old master's painting, Sandefur used several layers of oil paint and glazing techniques that required many months of work.  "Homeowners and designers are leaning towards more formal, ornate décor, with special attention to details," says Sandefur, who's work is found in many homes and businesses throughout San Diego County. About the Artist A native of Topeka, Kansas, Kim Sandefur has resided in the San Diego area since 1978.  She now maintains a studio in Olivenhain California.  As a professional artist, she has worked in a variety of media specializing in large scale paintings.
